Fruit Soup, Sausage on a Stick and Compote — The Tastes of PRL Summer Camps

Summer camps in communist-era Poland (PRL) had a distinctive culinary identity: fruit soup, compote, sausage grilled on a stick and bread with jam were staples fondly remembered by generations of Poles. The camp kitchen was simple and repetitive, but for children it represented the flavour of holiday freedom, entirely different from everyday meals at home or in school canteens.
