Over one-third of employees still work from home despite return-to-office mandates

According to the latest data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the share of employees working from home increased in 2025 compared to the previous year, despite widespread return-to-office policies. More than one-third of workers continue to perform their duties remotely. The findings suggest that employers have limited ability to enforce full compliance with in-office mandates.
