Earthquakes 7.2 and 7.5 Strike Near Caracas Less Than a Minute Apart
Two major earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude struck northern Venezuela near Caracas less than a minute apart, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The 7.5-magnitude quake is the largest to hit Venezuela since 1900. A state of emergency has been declared, buildings have collapsed, power lines are down and the capital's main airport sustained severe damage.
