Germany scraps F126 frigates, orders smaller MEKO-200 warships instead
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius plans to abandon the F126 frigate programme – the largest naval armament project in German history – due to rising costs and implementation problems. Berlin intends to order eight smaller MEKO-200 frigates from the TKMS group instead. The decision is also linked to Germany's NATO commitments, according to Der Spiegel.
