Commentator loses World Cup accreditation for calling Infantino and referee 'thieves'
Paraguayan TV commentator Jorge Chipi Vera has been stripped of his FIFA World Cup credentials after a live on-air tirade in which he called FIFA president Gianni Infantino and match officials "thieves." The outburst came after Miguel Almirón was sent off by Salvadorian referee Iván Barton for covering his mouth while speaking to Turkey's Mert Muldur — the first red card at this tournament under a strict new rule banning mouth-covering during on-field confrontations. Paraguay still won the match 1-0 against Turkey.
