Iran and Oman Eye Strait of Hormuz Transit Fees Despite US Opposition
Iran and Oman announced Tuesday they will form a joint working group to examine so-called maritime service fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The US has voiced clear opposition to any toll system in the strategically vital waterway, through which a significant share of global oil shipments pass. Both nations are pressing ahead with the discussions despite Washington's objections.
