Strait of Hormuz Traffic Rising After Iran Blockade, Still Below Normal
Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has reached its highest level since the outbreak of war with Iran, according to maritime tracking firms. Iran blocked the strait — through which roughly 40% of global oil transport flows — following a US and Israeli strike in late February 2026, causing oil prices to spike. A preliminary peace agreement includes restoring navigation in the Persian Gulf, but traffic remains well below pre-conflict norms.
