Krzysztof Dowgiałło, architect and Solidarity activist, dies aged 87
Krzysztof Dowgiałło, Polish architect and democratic opposition activist under communist rule, has died at the age of 87. He participated in the Gdańsk Shipyard strikes and served as a member of the Polish parliament's 10th term. He is best remembered for his "Ballada o Janku Wiśniewskim," commemorating the December 17, 1970 massacre in Gdynia, when the military and militia opened fire on shipyard workers.
