Mind chief: mental health groups failed to acknowledge violence risk from severe illness
Dr Sarah Hughes, chief executive of mental health charity Mind, has said mental health organisations have "failed to acknowledge" the risk of violence posed by a small minority of people with severe mental illnesses. She argued charities avoided the issue for fear of increasing stigma and harassment directed at people with mental health conditions. Her comments come ahead of the closure of the inquiry into the Nottingham attacks, in which several people were killed.
