164 countries back replacing Mercator world map — only US objects

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution encouraging countries to move away from the 450-year-old Mercator map projection, which makes Africa appear smaller than it actually is. The resolution was backed by 164 nations; only the United States voted against it.
