Helsinki Foundation expert: I see no hope for fixing Poland's Constitutional Tribunal

Dr Marcin Szwed of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights says Poland's Constitutional Tribunal cannot function effectively as long as its members have ties to the ruling political camp. In his view, the Tribunal has become a tool of political struggle, undermining its independence and authority. Szwed sees no realistic prospect of reforming the institution under current conditions.
