Record El Niño spawns three simultaneous category 4–5 Pacific cyclones

A NASA satellite captured an unprecedented trio of simultaneous category 4 and 5 hurricanes over the Pacific Ocean, driven by an exceptionally powerful El Niño event. Scientists say this is the first time such a combination has ever been recorded. The "super" El Niño is being linked to a sharp increase in the intensity and frequency of extreme weather events globally.
