Democrats alarmed by Pentagon–NIH biodefence partnership deal

The US Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health have signed a new partnership giving the Pentagon a larger role in biodefence and pandemic preparedness. Democratic lawmakers warned the deal could allow the Pentagon to divert NIH funds to military purposes. Critics fear the military may gain undue influence over civilian health research.
