EU Commission pushes for competitiveness funds as member states demand cuts

EU Budget Commissioner Piotr Serafin warned on Friday that too many member states are prioritising cuts in the new EU budget rather than investing in competitiveness. He stressed that a deal must be reached by the end of the year so the EU budget can be fully operational from 2028.
