Microsoft: Copilot almost never reproduces full sentences from NYT articles

Microsoft has filed legal documents claiming its Copilot chatbot almost never reproduces full sentences from news articles or books, let alone substantive chunks that could replace the original work. The company presented an analysis of 8.2 million Copilot queries as evidence in copyright lawsuits brought by publishers including The New York Times and book authors. Microsoft argues the tool does not infringe copyright in the manner alleged by the plaintiffs.
