EU gas prices double pre-war levels as storage falls below 5-year average

European gas prices are more than twice as high as before the war in the Middle East began. EU storage levels are well below the five-year average ahead of the heating season, forcing a costly and urgent race to refill reserves. Andrzej Sikora, head of the Institute of Energy Studies, says signs of panic are already visible on the market.
