EU Gas Storage at 65% Ahead of Winter; Target Remains 80%

European Commission spokeswoman Anna-Kaisa Itkonen announced Friday that EU gas storage facilities across all member states are currently 65% full. The target for this year remains 80%, though the Commission is considering lowering the threshold by 5 percentage points. Shortfalls ahead of winter could translate into higher energy prices across Europe.
