Amos Gitai brings West Bank film to Venice: 'We live in shock at the savagery'
Veteran Israeli director Amos Gitai is presenting "The Road to Jericho" at the Venice Film Festival, a poetic film highlighting the plight of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The film focuses in part on the village of Khan al-Ahmar, where a school built from tires has operated for years under threat of demolition by Israeli authorities. Gitai says many Israelis live in a state of shock at the ongoing savagery.
