Russia routes up to 80% of cross-border payments through alternative channels

Between half and 80 percent of Russia's cross-border transactions now bypass traditional banking infrastructure. Russia has built an alternative payments system that allows it to circumvent Western sanctions. Experts say this development is making existing restrictions increasingly ineffective.
