EU audit: Europe unlikely to achieve defence readiness by 2030
The European Court of Auditors says the EU is unlikely to reach its defence readiness goal by 2030, citing fragmented national defence systems and continued dependence on the United States. The bloc has improved since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, but the official auditor warns the 2030 target will be difficult to meet. Key obstacles include underdeveloped shared infrastructure and an absence of integrated deterrence capabilities.
