Millions breathe toxic smoke as jungle fires engulf Sumatra and Borneo

Weeks-long jungle fires on the Indonesian island of Sumatra and parts of Borneo have blanketed large areas of Southeast Asia in toxic smoke. Air quality in some areas has deteriorated so severely that schools have been closed and local authorities have called for prayers for rain. Only rainfall is expected to bring meaningful relief to the millions affected.
