Invasive tropical mosquito found breeding in homes in east London for first time

The invasive mosquito species Aedes aegypti, capable of transmitting Zika virus and dengue fever, has been found breeding in homes in east London for the first time in the UK. This is the fourth detection of the species in Britain overall. Experts warn that rapidly warming temperatures will lead to increasing incursions of invasive tropical mosquitoes into Europe.
