Estonian defence minister resigns over €70m undelivered ammunition scandal

Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur resigned Wednesday after national auditors accused his ministry of financial irregularities linked to a €70 million artillery ammunition contract awarded to an Indian company with no prior record of ammunition sales. The shells were never delivered, and Estonia took the case to the European Court of Arbitration. Pevkur, a centre-right politician serving since 2022, said he was taking political responsibility for the entire defence field.
