NASA opts for simpler "Sortie Suit" spacesuit for early Artemis Moon landings
NASA has decided to use a simpler "Sortie Suit" variant of its planned lunar spacesuit for the first Artemis landing missions, targeting the Moon's South Pole as early as 2028. Announced at an internal meeting, the decision directs Axiom Space to develop the suit, with goals of reducing mass, complexity, and interface challenges with lunar landers. The Sortie Suit will be used on landers built by both SpaceX and Blue Origin.
