Two fatal Tesla crashes: cars stopped on freeways with Autopilot engaged

Investigative reporting by Electrek linked two fatal Tesla crashes to redacted company reports indicating a Level 2 driver-assist system was active within 30 seconds of impact. On October 31, 2025, a Tesla sedan stopped in the middle of a freeway in Mesa, Arizona, and was struck by a Ford F-350, killing the driver. A second incident on October 6, 2025, in Seminole County, Florida, saw a 2020 Tesla Model 3 stop in the centre lane of I-4 and be hit by another vehicle, also fatally.
