Court rules Google need not sell ad exchange AdX despite losing antitrust case
A US federal judge ruled that Google does not have to sell its online advertising exchange AdX, despite the company having lost an antitrust case over its ad tech business. The Department of Justice and a coalition of states had sought the divestiture, arguing Google "rigged" ad auctions in its favour. The court found Google illegally locked publishers into using its exchange but cleared it on the advertiser-tools count. Penalties stemming from the loss are shaping up to be minimal.
