Hackers hijacked Softaculous IP addresses to spread malware via software updates

Unknown hackers performed a BGP hijacking attack against Softaculous, a UAE-based web software management platform, exploiting routing security weaknesses at hosting provider Hetzner Online. By seizing control of Softaculous's IP addresses and obtaining fraudulent TLS certificates, the attackers were able to serve malware disguised as legitimate software updates. Networks using Softaculous and its Virtualizor platform were infected through this supply chain attack.
