Pentagon's top military AI official sold Perplexity stock for up to $25m

Emil Michael, the top Pentagon official overseeing military AI policy, sold his holdings in AI company Perplexity for between $5 million and $25 million, according to financial disclosures seen by the Guardian. Earlier this year, Michael also profited up to $24 million from selling his stake in Elon Musk's xAI, with gains of between 400% and 4,800%. The revelations raise serious questions about conflicts of interest at the top of the US military's AI decision-making.
