Lung transplant transferred peanut allergy to recipient

A 47-year-old Canadian woman who received a lung transplant for interstitial lung disease developed a severe peanut allergy she didn't have before the operation. While still in hospital, she suffered a nearly two-hour anaphylactic reaction after eating breakfast cereal. Doctors concluded the allergy had been transferred from the organ donor along with the transplanted lungs.
