Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan form Mecca Defence Pact — expert urges caution

Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan have established the Mecca Defence Pact, which could eventually include up to seven Muslim-majority states from the Middle East. Prof. Radosław Fiedler cautions that a real military alliance is still a long way off — the pact is primarily a diplomatic tool and a bargaining chip in talks with the US. He describes it at this stage as a "paper tiger."
