Sweden imports ever more European waste for energy — Poland is a key supplier
Sweden is increasingly relying on imported waste from other European countries to fuel its energy production. Over 14 years, waste imports have risen by 189%, with nearly half the material processed in many Swedish incinerators coming from abroad. Poland is one of the main suppliers, a situation Swedish officials describe as a success from their perspective.
