Culture Ministry hid poll showing 58% of Poles oppose artist subsidy scheme it commissioned
Poland's Ministry of Culture paid 8,000 zloty for a public opinion survey on its flagship artist-support bill, then kept the results secret. The findings — 22% support for artist social-contribution subsidies versus 58% opposition — were only released after a freedom-of-information request by Wirtualna Polska. Despite the unfavourable numbers, the ministry led by Marta Cienkowska is not withdrawing the bill and has already spent over 60,000 zloty promoting it.
