Little Red Dots may be galaxies on the verge of merging

The James Webb Space Telescope discovered mysterious ancient objects called Little Red Dots, widely linked to supermassive black hole growth. New research suggests we may be observing some LRDs just before they merge, on their way to forming supermassive black holes. This is one of the unexpected discoveries JWST has made about the early Universe.
