Altman lobbied Newsom against kids' AI chatbot safety bill before it passed

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman lobbied California Governor Gavin Newsom to oppose a bill regulating how AI chatbots interact with children, before the legislation passed the state legislature. The bill could set a nationwide standard in the US for child safety in AI interactions. Newsom must still sign it into law.
