Ada Yonath, Israeli Nobel laureate who paved the way for new antibiotics, dies at 87

Ada Yonath, an Israeli chemist and the first Israeli woman to receive a Nobel Prize, died on Monday at the age of 87, the Weizmann Institute of Science announced. Her groundbreaking research into ribosome structure paved the way for the development of new classes of antibiotics. Yonath was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
