Feral pigs boost greenhouse gas emissions by disturbing soil

Research published in Nature found that sites where feral pigs disturb the soil release significantly higher levels of greenhouse gases than undisturbed areas. The animals' rooting behaviour releases carbon and other warming gases trapped in the ground. Scientists identify feral pig populations as an underappreciated contributor to climate change.
