Waymo expands to its first snowy city — about 56 inches of snow per year

Waymo's self-driving taxis have so far operated only in warm cities with mild winters. The company has announced an expansion to a city that receives around 56 inches of snow per year, presenting an entirely new technical challenge for its vehicles. Operating in snow and icy conditions will be the biggest real-world test of its system to date.
