PackClient RAT targets firms in China and India via fake tax audit emails

Proofpoint researchers identified an advanced remote access trojan called PackClient, distributed for nearly three months by hacking group TA4922. The malware is sold on Telegram and delivered via emails spoofing tax authorities in China and India. PackClient can steal files, log keystrokes, access webcams and escalate privileges; researchers warn it is likely to be adopted by a wider range of cybercriminals beyond Asia.
