Possible first glimpse of dark matter excites physicists after energy flash detected
An experiment has detected an energy flash matching the expected signal of a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) — the leading candidate for dark matter. The finding, published in Nature, has excited physicists who have spent decades searching for direct evidence of dark matter. Dark matter is thought to make up around 27% of the universe but has never been directly observed.
