Possible first glimpse of dark matter excites physicists after energy flash detected

An experiment has detected an energy flash matching the expected signal of a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) — the leading candidate for dark matter. The finding, published in Nature, has excited physicists who have spent decades searching for direct evidence of dark matter.
