Startup fuel-injects hydrogen into cargo ship engines to cut fuel use

Startup Newlight has developed a hydrogen fuel-injection system for cargo ship engines designed to improve fuel efficiency. The company raised $9 million in a seed round and completed a test voyage of 8,500 nautical miles from Singapore to Ghana. The technology supplements rather than replaces diesel engines by injecting hydrogen alongside conventional fuel.
