Wielicki conquered all 14 eight-thousanders — 30th anniversary of historic feat

On 1 September 1996, Krzysztof Wielicki made a solo ascent of Nanga Parbat, completing his conquest of all 14 eight-thousanders — the Crown of the Himalayas and Karakoram. He became the fifth mountaineer in history and second Pole to achieve the feat, after Jerzy Kukuczka. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the achievement.
