Trump admin halts Cyclospora research despite record US outbreak
The Trump administration is defunding two of three USDA Cyclospora research programs and effectively gutting the third, even as the US faces a record nationwide outbreak of the diarrhoea-causing parasite. The remaining research is still funded but all scientists working on it plan to leave rather than relocate from Maryland to Iowa, where the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center is being moved. Critics say the timing — during an active outbreak — makes the decision especially dangerous.
