Édouard Balladur, who lost France's presidency to Chirac, dies at 97

Édouard Balladur, who served as Prime Minister of France from 1993 to 1995, died Monday aged 97. He led a cohabitation government under Socialist president François Mitterrand before losing the 1995 presidential election to his long-time friend Jacques Chirac.
