France levies up to €20 per item on Shein and Temu fast fashion by 2030
France has introduced a penalty levy on cheaply made clothing sold by ultra-fast fashion platforms such as Shein, Temu and AliExpress, rising to nearly €20 per item by 2030. The measure stems from a law passed in June targeting the environmental impact of disposable fashion. Established rivals including H&M and Zara are exempt from the new fee.
