Debian votes to allow AI tools in Linux distribution development

The Debian community has voted to allow developers to use AI tools in the development, maintenance and documentation of its Linux distribution. The new policy states that "responsible" use of AI can improve developer productivity, and that generative AI is subject to the same standards as all other contributions — no more, no less. The decision settles a previously contentious debate within the project.
