Ukraine's new defence minister asks EU to unlock 2027 funds early

Ukraine's new Defence Minister Yevhen Chmara said on Sunday, 30 August, that continued foreign funding is essential to stopping Russian aggression. He announced plans to ask the EU to unlock part of the funds earmarked for 2027. Chmara pledged to present a "clear vision and clear plan" for how the money would be spent.
