Iran strikes Jordan after US attacks island in the Strait of Hormuz

The US struck an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the aim was to prevent Iranian forces from disrupting global shipping. Iran subsequently launched strikes on Jordan. The Trump administration had previously shifted its war objective to inflicting maximum economic pain on Tehran.
