France bans phones in high schools, but unions warn of implementation hurdles

France is rushing to implement a ban on mobile phone use in lycées — for students aged 15 to 18 — after President Emmanuel Macron hurriedly signed off the measure. Education unions warned the ban would be difficult to enforce quickly. Macron is also pushing for a social media ban for under-15s as part of his screen-time reduction legacy.
