Venice Film Festival restores press conferences amid Russia and Israel controversy
Organisers of the Venice International Film Festival reversed a decision to drop traditional press conferences, reinstating them shortly before the opening on Wednesday. The festival faces controversy over the inclusion of Russian director Ilya Khrzhanovskiy's "DAU", filmed partly in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The Biennale's earlier decision not to exclude Russian artists drew sharp criticism, prompting some countries to close their pavilions.
