NHS watchdog warns AI scribes get drug names and diagnoses wrong
NHS watchdog Healthwatch England has warned that AI tools transcribing patient consultations can endanger patients by incorrectly recording drug names or diagnoses. In one case, a woman was alarmed to read in an AI summary that she had demyelination — serious nerve damage that can lead to multiple sclerosis — which was incorrect. Such errors were reportedly missed by GPs reviewing the transcripts.
